Ellos son Luke Pritchard (Voces y Guitarra Rítmica), Hugh Harris (Primera Guitarra), Max Rafferty (Bajo) y Paul Garred (Batería). Como integrante suplente, se lo puede mencionar a Dan Logan, quien reemplaza cada tanto a Max (sufre algunos problemas de salud). La idea de llamarse The Kooks salio a partir del tema homonimo de David Bowie, del disco Hunky Dory. El nombre traducido al español podria ser "Bichos Raros". La banda tiene una historia corta pero muy intensa e interesante. Nacieron en Brighton, una ciudad costera al sur de Inglaterra, donde tan solo meses después de haber tocado su primer tema juntos (Reptilia de los Strokes) se presentaron en el festival que los llevo a la fama, el Brighton Free Butt. Alli, tras cuatro temas que cautivaron a la escena local, fueron captados por Virginia Records, el gran sello del Reino Unido y salieron de gira por el país teloneando a The Thrills. La sucesión de éxitos musicales, llevo a la banda al Top de las mayores emisoras radiales del Reino Unido. La gran influencia de bandas como The Smiths, Blur, The Doors, Supergrass y Jeff Buckley sumada a una gran creatividad tanto musical como lirica hicieron que esta banda largue con exito su primer single, Eddie's Gun. Luego vendría la aun mejor Sofa Song y otros temas como "She moves in her on way" y "Naive" que se ganarian los primeros puestos en los rankings no solo britanicos, sino tambien estadounidenses. A partir del exito cosechado por sus primeros temas, en Enero del 2006 lanzan al mercado "Inside in, Inside out" su album debut, el cual, con sus 14 canciones, se mantuvo mas de 30 semanas en el Top 20 del Reino Unido y fue Triple disco de Platino. Lo que se destaca de la banda, es su juventud y su tendencia por no encasillarse en el rock ni en el brit pop.
